So the gist of the story is they (I don't know who is involved) is going after him because of the lack of moderating of the telegram platform?

TF1 and BFM both said the investigation was focused on a lack of moderators on Telegram

It is certainly not the only top tool for organized crime on internet...

It's a bit dangerous to cheer the attacks on people who make tools. Tools can be used in different ways, even Linux or MX can be used for illegal stuff, why would the creators be responsible for what the bad guys are doing? Also, while Telegram is not even encrypted by default I think all the communication tools should be encrypted, yes, bad guys will use them, but bad guys also use electricity and gas and nobody from utilities was put in prison because terrorists used light bulbs and electricity for their nefarious reasons.

@rijnsma11111 and therein lies the biggie for me. While I dont use Telegram, (nor really like it) I have a number of people that do use it for private communication in legit businesses. I have even more that use Signal (which I do use ), and sitting on the "encrypted / private" end of technology is the issue. (imo)

The problem is not creating a tool, it is how they manage it.
If I use this forum to distribute child pornography... if the admins look the other way they are partly responsible. If the police suspect me, ask for information about me and the admins deny it... they will be cover-ups.
