AirVPN fails to start giving following error:

#1 Post by handy »

Hi all, long time no post. I'm running the Fluxbox edition, it is up to date, i use Openbox WM without the Fluxbox GUI running. I have multiple machines running this way & have been running Linux (& BSD's) this way (meaning using Openbox instead of DE's) since 2008.

Anyway, i'll post my error followed by the system info. Thanks for your time.

The error when trying to start "Eddie":

Code: Select all

Exception: Executable '/usr/sbin/iptables-nft' not allowed: Writable by groupWritable by other;

You may have played around with the file permissions in an amateurish way.
Either reinstall iptables, to get the permissions sorted, or manually correct all iptables-related executables accordingly.

Thanks for your reply @fehlix.

I actually hadn't touched any of the permissions. i've grown old & dumb (happy though :) ) & don't tinker with my OS's beyond using tools & applications that i have installed. i thought it must have been something that happened due to an update. i'll try reinstalling iptables & see how that goes. thanks for your help.

@fehlix, thanks, i reinstalled iptables & rebooted the machine just for good measure & AirVPN started-up as it is supposed too. So that was nice & easy. :D

I have no idea what caused the permissions to change though?

Take care?
