Audio Hardware/Software Detection Issue

Posted: Tue Jun 25, 2024 5:46 am
by Frankarnold
Hello Forum,

I am running a dual installation of
a) Fedora 40 and
b) MX-23-AHS

on latest kernels and so forth.

Prefer running MX, but there is a minor sound issue. Fedora 40 is giving full audio via board speakers and headphone jack, whereas MX will produce sound only via the headphone jack. Board speakers are detected, but there is only minimal volume even with everything set to full volume.

It is not a big issue since one could do without the board speakers, still it makes one wonder.

Thanks and all the best to all :-) Frank

We are going to need your computer’s complete profile before we can proceed, so you need to post the output from the QSI utility. The Quick System Info (QSI) utility is located in MX Tools and its output is automatically formatted for use here in the forum. Run the QSI utility, click “Copy for Forum” at the bottom and then just paste it here in your thread.

I have the same answer for this anomaly as I did in your other thread here:

Do state the answer, because if that thread gets removed for whatever whenever, then the link becomes dead.

Here it is, but I have emended it slightly for this specific situation.

Some people have been getting funky results with the Liquorix 6.9.xxx series. As a test, roll back to the 6.6.12-1 which has proven to be very stable and see if the speakers are now active.

... going back to ahs with 6.6.12-1 kernel gave same result.
went back to 6.1 kernel with live-iso. CPU with correct parameters Min/Max 800/2800
audio problem persists: sound via jack: perfect, via board speakers: maybe 3% volume at the max (barely audible)
