AVL-MXE-23.2 apparently will not resize for Samsung 4K screen (Resolved)

#1 Post by pksings2021 »

Gentlemen, let me first compliment you on a very, very interesting project.
In the last few weeks I have tried 5 different distros and have come back to the current one. It is the best one for what I need it to do.
I got fiber optic Net drop from Frontier and a new router that only works right with DHCP, so everything now has reservations and all is running.
I also found a way to do static IP addresses under E. Now that I can't use them. Nice to have the MX utilities, I really missed them on the distros that did not have them. I love Pipewire.

I have a computer that uses a Samsung TV as it's monitor. And I cannot get a decent sized font or resize for it to be readable from my console and chair, about 12 feet away.
I have spent the better part of the last three days trying to and have failed. The adjustments requested by some of the settings seem to be being ignored and the same fonts remain.
Firefox resized easily and is the only thing that has successfully resized, though the top panel of it is still really tiny.

It is a show stopper, and the only thing that this machine isn't doing correctly. It is my Backup, email, internal DNS, Music workstation and Stream watcher.
I am not clear if this is an Enlightenment issue or a distro problem, I'm posting at both places to find out.
I am using AVL-MXe-23.2

Thank you for doing what you do.

Carsten of Enlightenment development provided a step by step method of resolving this, and it worked perfectly. It was Well buried but simple once found. The theme needed to be changed and the new theme works fine with being much larger.

Post your Quick System Info
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

Hi,

Hmmm that seems odd because I develop AV Linux on a Samsung 4K monitor (not a TV). One of my favorite things about E is how seamlessly it scales and adjusts to 4K. Starting with the most obvious things... You are aware of the Enlightenment Settings Panel "Screen Setup" and also the Scaling utility?

Hi, glad you got it resolved and thanks for hanging in there to see what AVL is really all about...

It would be invaluable to other Users facing the same issues to know what steps Carsten walked you through if you could share them even in point form..

Like @AVLinux asked, could you share the steps taken to resolve this?
