I have another update problem, giving me this message:

W: An error occurred during the signature verification. The repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used. GPG error: https://repo.protonvpn.com/debian stable InRelease: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 4EDE055B645F044F NO_PUBKEY 8DD48989F43719CA
E: https://repo.protonvpn.com/debian stable InRelease is not (yet) available (The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 4EDE055B645F044F NO_PUBKEY 8DD48989F43719CA)

I no am no longer attempting to use Proton VPN and, as far as I know, have removed it from my system.

Any ideas please?

If you are not using proton then disable the repo. (Mx repo manager last tab)

For those who like me do want to keep and use protonVPN (MX23, SysVinit, KDE), here is a long thread on the subject:
viewtopic.php?t=80431

Proton states that the system must run SystemD, but it's all fine using SysVinit (as SystemD is found in the system, just not loaded as main)
Proton states that ProtonVPN is developped for Gnome, but ProtonVPM works well on XFCE and KDE, just need to load some Gnome module inside
