Hello all, im wondering if Debian 32bit no-pae single core updates package will have any benefits on my Debian32 bit w/pae. I use indeed a single core machine. Should i do the change?
If yes i just need to install it from MX Package Installer and then uninstall the w/pae one?

You can still install (they won't effect each other, will be separate, independent) and boot with, and compare.

PAE (Physical Address Extension) allows the operating system to address more than 4GB of RAM (if there is) ... so, you can stay with pae no matter you have 4GB or more or less ...

There is an option at MX Package Installer, at kernel to install Debian 32bit no-pae single core updates package. I use and old 32bit machine with a single core CPU on it.

Thanks for the info. My netbook Has 2GB of RAM. Just the "single core updates package" ringed a bell and if i will have any benefit using it at sigle core CPU.

Ok, my other (HP) laptop is also 32bit , Pentium M (Single Core) with 2GB DDR2 ram ..

Shortly, you don't have to do something special, just have a look if your cpu supports pae:

Flags: ht lm nx pae sse sse2 sse3 sse4_1 sse4_2 ssse3


If it doesn't show pae, then install any non-pae kernel (it may also be from antiX from "MX Package Installer" ).

Number of cores and PAE really aren't related.
