Happy 10th Year Anniversary--a user thread

#1 Post by siamhie »

The official announcement is in the MX News and Announcements section (viewtopic.php?t=79875) but regular users can't post there, so post your comments here if you like.

I discovered MX Linux when I decided to switch my Slackware system to a Debian based OS and almost settled on Kubuntu if it weren't for a kernel panic during the loading of it's live ISO.

I downloaded MX Linux 19.3 and haven't looked back. I recently added antix-23.1 (IceWM) to my multi-boot system so I can now enjoy both worlds.

Hats off and kudos to the devs of this wonderful distribution. :number1:
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

Happy Birthday MX Linux and many more. I remember seeing a video when I was using Manjaro years ago and I like what I saw. I had a lot of trouble with Manjaro and the support in the Manjaro forums was completely non existence along with being very nasty. I tried asking in the Arch forums for help that they were actually really nice about it explaining to me that Manjaro is not Arch and advised me to look outside of the Manjaro forums which I am glad I did. I eventually ended up getting help outside of the Manjaro community from Spatry from Spatry's Cup of Linux. A few months down the road I had a problem with Manjaro again but unfortunately Spatry was no longer to be found at that time. I then switched to using MX-Linux. Thank you all responsible for making MX Linux so great.
I am command line illiterate. I copy & paste to the terminal. Liars, Wiseguys, Trolls, and those without manners will be added to my ignore list.

I discovered MX Linux in 2018, and had no idea it was a continuation of MEPIS (a name I had not heard about in years). I got curious because with a name like "MX Linux" I figured it was a distro for DJs. Turned out to be a pretty decent distro based on XFCE.

Of course there's always AV Linux, a distro for DJs based on MX Linux.

Happy Birthday! :balloons: :birthdaycake: :yourock:

I tried to switch to Linux as careful as I could, having so much stuff depending on a working computer. From all I could read and find MX Linux was among the 2 or 3 best options for me. So I gave it a try in 2022, and I have not been disappointed. A distro that works, and that is designed to help me get stuff running. Wonderful!

Thank you very much devs, admins, supporters, and forum users!
