I am pretty sure that in other versions when I change theming the login box changes color as well.

MX21 uses LIghtDM for its login window.

In the whisker Menu, type in light and look for LightDM GTK + Greeter. Then in the greeter settings you can change themes, icons, font, regular back ground color and what image you would like on the greeter. From what I have seen it is 100% independent upon what you do with your other themes and settings.

You may need to experiment a little with it to get what you like.
*QSI = Quick System Info from menu (Copy for Forum)
*MXPI = MX Package Installer
*Please check the solved checkbox on the post that solved it.
*Linux -This is the way!

You haven't configured swap space and many of our packages expect it to be in place (even thought it may never be used) and you may get some odd behavior when it is absent.
You can add a swap file at ant time by following these directions:
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/ ... -debian-11
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Thanks for your replies. I was beginning to think it might be in LightDM, but I didn't remember having to change it there in the past.
As for swap space not sure how I missed that when I first installed. This drive is much smaller than I normally use, it is the one that came with this machine.
I have had some strange issues with Calc lately. That could be the reason.
I will try your suggestions.
