It requires network manager. Any tips on how to configure MX with it?

I have been trying the different flavors of MX 64, and reloaded with the standard XFCE 64 version, and was trying to use a flatpak, instead of adding packages, but ran out of space in the partition. I will post the details after I rearrange the drive.

I did get it to work under Devuan, but haven't had any luck with any other distros thus far. I normally run antiX, but according to the git site Network Manager is required. This is the first time there was a feature that I really want that I couldn't get to work with antiX. If I need a separate distro, I'd rather it be MX than Devuan or MS Win.

I was successful in both MX21 and MX23 using the flatpak.

In Linux I could not cast with my built-in adapter that worked in Windows. I used an old USB adapter from TP-Link (model T2U). The Netgear RAXE300 6E adapter worked better even though I had to use the 2.4Ghz frequency with my TV.

I had lots of errors with the flatpak BUT it worked when I switched to the 6.4 kernel. I think there were more changes scheduled for some newer kernels. The Liquorix kernels did not work for me.

@fan_of_LTS, thanks for the helpful post. I believe the AH MX version I was trying has the Liquorix kernel, so it's possible that was a factor. Its also good to know someone has it running, and that you got it working with the flatpak.

I have tried 23.2 AHS, and XFCE, as well as Fluxbox. I installed to the SSD and updated the OS before installing any software. I have tried installed with flatpak and from synaptic. All were on the same Dell E5540 laptop that I have it working on Devuan (which was installed from synaptic). They all get as far as offering to connect to the TV, and all just come back with an "Error" box.

Any help would be appreciated :)

I can't seem to locate my notes from when I was actively working on this but I do know that I was unsuccessful with kernel 6.1. It was when I upgraded to the 6.4 kernel that it started to work for me.

I was using an AMD Ryzen and TP-Link T2U though but perhaps a newer kernel will help.

Using MX 23.2 64 bit XFCE and installed the programs from the repos, and then installed the 6.4 kernel, but the result was still the Error box. Any suggestions?

I am afraid I don't see anything here that helps me figure it out.

I have a Realtek onboard WiFi that works well in Windows but doesn't work for casting in Linux. That is why I tried the USB device which worked for me. Given that you were able to use it in Devuan there is hope for your device working in Linux.

Perhaps someone else can help. We can't be the only ones who want screencasting in Linux.

I installed the package sources, but can't find the error messages in them with grep, so its beyond by ability even to figure out what the cause of the messages are.

It bothers me that on the same machine, Devuan works and MX doesn't.

I guess my next efforts will be to try the other newer Debian kernels. I have gotten farther with MX than antiX, but not far enough to make the TV screen try to switch. On Devuan, at that point it goes black for a second and then I get a message on the PC saying its starting to stream.
