Runs fine on $33 Chromebook

Here you can post about what you did to get MX to work right with your computer or if hardware worked right out of the box for you. This is for the computers and/or hardware that is normally hard to get working right in Linux or MX.

Runs fine on $33 Chromebook

#1 Post by dancytron »

I'm running the latest MX XFCE version on a Lenovo Gen 3 11e Chromebook, whatever the standard debian kernel was a month ago, and everything works except the microphone and seeing the temp of the cpu. You have to install new bios etc, see mrchromebox.tech . (edit: fixed url)

They are $33 from reputable sellers on ebay.

I'm running it off an SD card. The performance is fine. Almost as fast as Puppy. Totally usable.

$33

I was able to uninstall Firefox and Thunderbird, install Chrome, and remaster it, and make a install usb the 1st time through by just following the prompts without even needing to try to understand the file system.

Everything just works. You've also made themes that fixed the horrible thin borders and have tweaks to fix several xfce annoyances. :number1:

That's good to know, because I have an ASUS Chromebox CN60 I am planning to put MX Linux on (with the help of mrchromebox.tech). We'll see what a 2-core 15-watt processor can do I guess. The RAM and M.2 2242 nvme look very easy to upgrade, but I'm going to try it as is first.
