Question about new packages to be installed

I was just wondering why all these new packages were coming down recently, after a fresh deb 12.4 install...
besides the updated kernel. All related to pipewire? Can I opt out of that or is there a platform shift here?
Code: Select all
The following NEW packages will be installed:
libcamera0.0.3 (0.0.3-6)
libconfig++9v5 (1.5-0.4)
libffado2 (2.4.7-1)
liblttng-ust-common1 (2.13.5-1)

Did you install MX 23.1 or Debian 12.4 (you wrote Debian)?
I'd think our package updaters give a tad more information than "this is coming down", such as if they are upgrading over an older version or are being installed for the first time. MX Updater has a History feature that shows that, for example.

QSI as asked. Also i meant I installed MX 23.1 XFCE x64 from the December 15 updated ISO, which includes the Debian 12.4 point update. I was merely wondering why many(??) 15 or so NEW packages were being installed rather than updates of existing ones. I was guessing it had something to do with some kind of switchover to pipe-wire?

Even in Debian 12.4 standard, pipewire is kinda old and has known bugs. Pipewire 1.0.0 is in bookworm-backports, and after testing that showed it's a big improvement, we have it in our own MX main repo. We do the same for certain other packages, including our own bespoke MX Tools, which often are improved and updated daily.
The packages that don't have "mx" in the versioning or name are security upgrades directly from Debian.
