Thunderbolt extenal GPUs and MX linux?

Has Anybody tried one of these (or similar) with MX linux.

Honestly it had not occurred to me that it was a possibility if you had an under-powered GPU laptop with a thunderbolt 3 or 4 USB-C port. This particular model says it's Linux compatible, but you have to modify the grub menu to support multiple cards.

Does not look like very good reviews from what I can find - ok, but not great.

I tried something similar, not quite as higher end GPU as this one a while back on a laptop that was having some bad gpu issues. I got it working, but it was not good. I ended up sending it back and telling my client to spring for a new laptop. (The laptop was in windows and the claim was that it would 'replace older gpu with a newer powerful one' - might have just been the bad one in the machine was just too far gone too though.)
*QSI = Quick System Info from menu (Copy for Forum)
*MXPI = MX Package Installer
*Please check the solved checkbox on the post that solved it.
*Linux -This is the way!

Yea, that one needs an external video out to make it useful, but you can bet more of those will come out from other vendors soon. That one runs about $550 but if they came down to the $250 range it could be useful for those of us who have something like I have which only has an Intel UHD 620 in it (but I've got TB3 USB-C port).
