I have an issue I hope to get help with, entering info on different system but will try and add pertinent info.
Laptop is MSI GE 62 7RD Apache Pro, I upgraded the wifi card from Intel 3168NGW => Intel AX201NGW
Intel AX201NGW card was in an MSI GP76 Leopard and it worked.

card not being detected in Apache

Code: Select all

System stats.
 kernel 6.5.0-4mx-ahs-amd64
 OS MX-23.1_ahs_x64 Libretto
Network:
Device-1: Qualcom Atheros Killer E2500 Gigabit Ethernet vendor: Micro-Star MSI driver: alx
v: kernel pcie: gen: 1 speed: 2.5 GT/s lanes: 1 port:d000 class-ID: 0200
Bluetooth:
Device-1: Microsoft Nano Transceiver v1.0 for bluetooth driver: hid-gineric,usbhid typeUSB
what it doesn't show is something like
Device-2: MEDIATEK MT7921 802.11ax PCI Express Wireless Network Adapter
           vendor: AzureWave driver: mt7921e v: kernel modules: wl port: e000 bus-ID: 03:00.0
           chip-ID: 14c3:7961 class-ID: 0280
the only thing connected to that laptop as bluetooth is the wireless mouse, is this creating a conflict?
I have been to Intel website, got the correct driver file for the card, and followed the posted instructions, rebooted and still no wifi, also can't find the option to change the driver & or card
the laptop already has the iwlwifi drivers installed from MX repository. So is it possible to get the card working? or is it incompatible with the hardware?

Is this still installed?

Code: Select all

Device-2: MEDIATEK MT7921 802.11ax PCI Express Wireless Network Adapter
           vendor: AzureWave driver: mt7921e v: kernel modules: wl port: e000 bus-ID: 03:00.0
           chip-ID: 14c3:7961 class-ID: 0280
If so, does the target laptop have two different slots for PCIe mini-wifi cards? That seems rather odd...

If you continue to have issues with onboard wifi, I would recommend you read through the following thread where spidermanslegs the OP, finally chose to acquire an usb dongle that I understand has solved their issues.

The AX201 is a CNVi card, it uses modules on the motherboard instead of being completely self-contained.

It will not work on a motherboard that does not have those modules.

Your older laptop does not have those modules.

Which again, is why an external dongle may fit the bill.

So would an AX200 card.

Intel names the CNVi cards with a 1 as the last digit.

Great info. My next laptop will have an eth0 port which I plan on using. The original card was just fine btw.
