Upgrade Error - System has not been booted with systemd as init system (PID 1)

I have expressvpn installed and when running MX Updater I get error "System has not been booted with systemd as init system (PID 1). Can't operate.
Failed to connect to bus: Host is down"
My knowledge level is low so.... does this mean what MX uses to upgrade from expressvpn is "down" or do they just not support?

Did you install it via "MX Package Installer" or manually? Cause MXPI also installs the (required) SysV scripts.

You can also boot with systemd (Advanced Options on Grub) and retry ...

Thanks @Charlie Brown - I initially installed manually. I just uninstalled then reinstalled using MXPI and issues seems to be resolved. Thanks!

I hope you don't mind one more question @Charlie Brown .... Is there any benefit to booting with Advanced Options all of the time?
(Let me know if I should create a new post for this question)

Nope. Neither benefit nor harm. They're just alternative (also kind of spare) boot options. But in case you need (for whatever reason) to boot with any of them frequently, you can make it the default with "MX Boot Options" - 'Boot to' .. (to get rid of selecting that manually every boot... ) :)
