Hi. Could someone please advise on how to clear recently used files in Thunar's "Recent" folder? Also can one disable this folder from displaying recently used files? For security purposes. Many thanks!

You can just hide it: Right-click on somewhere empty on left pane in Thunar: "Places" and uncheck that.

Deleting the responsible file will clear the recordings (it'll be auto-generated and start from zero again ...)

Code: Select all

rm ~/.local/share/recently-used.xbel
( On this opportunity: It would be useful for everyone if such an option ("Clear Recently Used Files List" or so) gets added to MX Cleanup ( @Adrian ) )

To permanently disable:

Code: Select all

sudo chattr +i ~/.local/share/recently-used.xbel

P.S. To permanently disable: First remove the file as above, then open "Recent" in Thunar (to have it re-created empty) then apply the chattr

(Also @dolphin_oracle : Maybe an option either to clear and even to disable that in "MX Tweak" , maybe in "Config Options" or "Other" tab.. just a humble suggestion)

This is a gawd awful thing to have in a file manager - I've lost files because of it today, (whilst trying to empty it) - it really does need to go!
