MX-23.1 // Problems with Standby Mode

Posted: Thu Nov 02, 2023 3:15 am
by AlphaElwedritsch
Hello,
since 23.1 I have problems with my two Laptops and Standby mode
I've configured on both to go in standby after 15 minutes in battery mode.
And to go in standby when closing the lid.

If I wait 15 minutes, everything is fine as expected. Laptops going in standby. After pressing power button, the wake up, asking for password and working well.

If I close the lid, they going in standby. But when opening the lid, I don't get ask for password. Desktop is showing, but mouse and keyboard don't working.
And I get an blue/yellow icon in sidebar, which I don't know what it is.
The only possibility and the only thing what is working is to press STRG+ALT+DEL to end session

It's the same setup I use for long time on the laptops without issues.

One laptop is std. MX, the other is ahs. But same behaviour on both.

https://imagebin.ca/v/7fsDoRpaYdjD

Can somebody help?

thx, regards Alpha

Did more investigation

Seems lock screen will not be activated before system is going to standby

If i deactivate the lock screen and close the lid, system ist going to standy. after reactivating i see the desktop and it works

So for me, the problem is, that system is going to fast in standby that lock screen cannot be activated
Only when closing the lid
when system is going into standby via timeout, no problems

It's exactly that: (sorry I have it only in german)

https://imagebin.ca/v/7fsYIYDY4fuD

Lock screen checked -> problems
unchecked -> no problems

xflock4 is not executed before the system is put into standby mode.

I had exactly the same problem, but found from another thread on this forum that setting Compositor -> Vblank -> Off on MX Tweak solves this problem. I have no idea what that does, but after doing this setting the problem is gone.

This quite evidently is a bug, but I'm a newcomer to MX Linux and don't yet know where to report this so that this would be fixed for everyone by default.
