[Solved] MX23 Video-Playback not possible

Hello,

I already opend a thread because of some blutooth-problems after switching from MX21 to MX23.

Now I realized another problem.

It's not possible to replay Videos on my machine. Only very small resolutions are playing in mpv. Larger Videos are stuttering (Video and Audio). All Programs are affectec (Firefox and Vivaldi on embedded Videos, VLC and mpv on local Files.

The non-free codecs are installed.

I also tried to change from 6.4 Kernel to 6.1 Kernel with no result.

What is wrong here? With MX21 Videos were playing smoothly...

After removing Tuxedo Control Center and Tuxedo Keyboard I switched back to SysVInit.

Video is playing now (I checked in Live-System before).

But somehow I messed up Pipewire and Pulseaudio.

I think I'll start again with a clean new install tomorrow morning...

I gave up. After setting up all my Programs and installing all the updates for MX23 (without ahs), I ran into the same Problem like here: viewtopic.php?t=77114
Video Playback was broken again.
So I returned to MX21ahs.
After some Nightshift my Tuxedo seems to run without Problems :-)

The first thing I'd check is an MX 23 Live Session to see how videos play there!

In the live-system everything was fine.
A Video from my /home was playing flawlessly.

After setting up the system and adding some software and updates the same video wasn't playing.

Could it be possible that some config-files from my "recycled" /home cause this?

Another test on an installed system if things go wonky, is to create another user account (MX User Manager makes that easy), and then see what happens when logged into that new account. They have fresh settings which are the same as MX's default.

If both accounts are borked, then that points to something changed for the whole system.

VLC's automatic hardware accelerated video decoding (libva) is stated to be broken in the Debian Bookworm release notes for many video driver/hardware combinations. :frown: :frown:

Try disabling the acceleration in VLC's Input/Codecs tab in its settings, then exit VLC and then restart it.

If you do need HWA video, mpv, SMPlayer, or QMPlay2 in the MX main or test repos may offer that feature after some fiddling with their configurations.

Unfortunately, vlc crash even with disabled HWA video

Even if other players are working, I'll try to clone git repository and build locally, even if your advise isn't a good omen...
I'll keep you informed..

Also try (in VLC):

Preferences => Video => Output :

X11 Video output (XCB) or XVideo output (XCB)

(rather than the default "automatic" )
