MX Xfce 23 64bit on Apple Hardware

Here you can post about what you did to get MX to work right with your computer or if hardware worked right out of the box for you. This is for the computers and/or hardware that is normally hard to get working right in Linux or MX.

MX Xfce 23 64bit on Apple Hardware

#1 Post by PhantomTramp »

Installed on an old 2009 iMac last night. Core2Duo 3.33 21.5". I replaced the drive with an enterprise type drive for better milage (We had one more heat sensor left on the shelf). Found memory to fit that was hiding in an old shoebox. 8 GB. Passed memtest.

Started with USB Live plugged in and holding down "option" key. Chose the USB Live from the list and booted to a glorious animated logo and then the desktop.

Clicked desktop icon to install. Chose to let MX have the whole drive. I barely finished typing the required information when the installer was ready to reboot. Rebooted and tweaked to taste.
I returned the iMac to the tech savvy senior citizen neighbor who had cookies waiting.

Good work when you can get it!
