warpinator? [Solved]

The only application missing from my MX23 install is warpinator.
It is one of those classic Linux programs, does one thing, and does it well.
I used it constantly on MX21, and now miss it, as it seems absent from the bookworm repos.
Can this useful search tool be packaged for MX23?

Warpinator is in the Flatpak repo. It looks like right now that is the only way to install it.

OK, thanks for the lead.
I'll check into that.
I never used the flatpacks before, due to the updating limitations, but I will try and install it.

OK, I used the MXPI , in the flatpacks tab, to get warpinator installed.
It worked, though couldn't see the other computers on the home network.
This was not the default behavior in MX21 and 19.
I had to turn the firewall off, then it works normally.
I am behind a NAT router on a home network.
I can look into keeping it on while making a rule for warpinator, I think ports like 42000 need to be open.

Warpinator isn't in any Debian repos; we've been porting it over from Mint for MX, but missed doing it so far for MX 23. I'll see if I can get to it later tonight.

There are instructions for firewall settings on their github page.

BV206,
Wow, that is the exact information. Thanks.
I will check that out once I see if Stevo can get it in the regular package.
The flatpack and the regular versions seem to have different ways of dealing with the firewall.

Here's the latest 1.6.4 for MX 23 if you want to let me know how it works:

It will also be in the test repo.

Thanks Stevo, Do I have to un-install the flat[pack first with the MXPI?
I don't want to screw this up, as I use warpinator a lot.

To avoid any complications with the flatpak, yes, please remove it.

Stevo,
Excellent.
I removed the flatpack with MXPI.
I downloaded the .zip from that link, and double clicked it, and it installed after authentication.
I set it up as normal, it recognized other computers on the network because I still have the MX23 firewall off.
I transferred files both ways, and it works, including to an earlier version on MX21.3.
So, the packaged version works, though it requires firewall configuration, which the old one did not, it just worked OOTB.
Thanks for the fast packaging, I will look further into the firewall configuration.
Edit:
OK, firewall configuration was easy.

I followed BV206's link on github, and added two simple rules to the firewall. (ports 42000 and 42001) The third rule is only needed for the flatpacks.
Now it all works as the earlier versions on MX21 and before.
