This thread is for feedback and issue reports MX-23 Fluxbox RC1.

******A major issue with the installer was found on the shipping ISOS that could wipe ESP partitions, even if not selected for installation. Please update the installer BEFORE running any installs.***

MX-23 Fluxbox RC 1 isos are now available. Full announcement tomorrow, but forum users get the early news :happy:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/mx-lin ... g/Fluxbox/

Be sure to include the quick-system-info with your report.

If posting nvidia-installer (ddm-mx) issues, please post the contents of /var/log/ddm.log.
If posting remaster issues, please include the contents of /var/log/live/live-remaster.log
If posting installer issues, please include the contents of /var/log/minstall.log
If posting issues with MX-PackageInstaller “Popular Apps”, please post contents of /var/log/mxpi.log or /var/log/mxpi.log.old (whichever contains the log of your issue).

By the way, the gui for quick-system-info now has a pretty nice log viewer function.

if posting about an application, please be specific on what application.

Really nice to see it! What a lot of work, and what terrific contributions by Devs and users-devs. A big thanks to everybody for their support with no good reason except the pleasure and challenge of producing a high quality product. And that we did.

Excellent work :number1:

I went ahead and re-downloaded fluxbox-RC1 just so that I'm on the same page. Installation went fine (nice to see the installer back to off-white) and proceeded to install my software.

Ran into an issue with xmms. Seems one of the packages is not on antix's bookworm repo, xmms-plugins-antix. I was able to install xmms during the alpha and beta phases.

@anticapitalista Thanks for updating the program. It no longer shows xmms-plugins-antix as a requirement and it added xmms-skins-antix (bonus-that's new).

Works like a charm (also thanks for changing the default audio plugin from OSS to ALSA. :number1:

The regular rofi (launched with logo/Windows key). My test machine AAO 722 does not recognize the double click to launch for some reason. I wonder if it would be reasonable to make it single-click like Appfinder or at least add the necessary "rasi" elements so the user can decide.

Also: I'm not sure that the tab for windows serves much of a purpose, i.e. I can't see a likely use case.

Works for me but you have to be really quick with the double-click action. Maybe slow down the milliseconds requirement?

Double click works fine for me.
Could look at adding this to config.rasi, with info to uncomment (delete slashes) for single click

Code: Select all

//me-select-entry:	"MouseSecondary";
//me-accept-entry:	"MousePrimary";

2) I had not remembered that we were going to include the ssh tab by default.
Presume you mean the 3rd tab, which is actually "window", not ssh.

Code: Select all

modi: "drun,filebrowser,window,help:/usr/share/rofi/rofi-help";
If you have no windows open it has nothing to show > empty black square

Side note: Rofi-manager still has ssh as an option for the tab modi. Should I remove ssh?

3) icons
I also noticed user manual (mxum) and faq icons are not showing in rofi. The icon paths need to be corrected to just "help-browser" in the desktop files.

Yeah, I already corrected my ssh post. Brain fart.

I would leave ssh I guess but commit to fleshing it out somehow. Maybe we create a dedicated "MX-ssh" starting with the ideas I had? will draft something out probably for after Final but we'll see.

Already installed. I was not aware about installer bug, so EFI was formatted even if it was not used.
The partition manager in the installer was partially not translated to Polish language (the elements of that white sheet was in English), but the description and help on the left sidebar was translated.
I don't know if it was a matter of chance or not, but after installation of MX-23RC my default MX-21 boots much slower than before, but the MX23RC boots very fast.

It seems to me, that MX23RC runs smooth and fast like hell, as if it was better optimized than beta.

After installing some programs like LibreOffice, Gimp, XnviewMP andPolish metapackage I've got that error messages:

Code: Select all

It seems as it was the problem with the LibreOffice installation. In spite of the error, I didn't experience any problems while running LO yet.

I'm trying out the RC and I've just realized that this version doesn't also integrate in the ISO a certain package essential for tumbnails auto production .
Please integrate the libgdk-pixbuf package.
Thank you and have a nice day!

Some other non-critital isues.
As the MX-Welcome appeared on my screen for the first time after installation, it looked like it hadn't used the default gtk2-platformtheme (MX-comfort) but rather something like the fusion-platformtheme (the theme was much lighter than MX-comfort and the fonts were smaller, there are no these characteristic big dark-grey buttons). After choosing the theme in the MX-Tweak tab the qt-theming was fixed.

Some issues with icons and localization:
The Help icon on the dock launches the MX-FB Manual in English. As far as I remember, there was a Polish version in beta.
The MX User Manual has no icon in the Appfinder.
FAQ has no icon.
Configure Top has no description - only the icon.
The applications like: Settings manager, Tint2 Manager, Appfinder settings, MXFB-look, Font, are not localized and appear in English.
Someone has interpreted the word "Manual" as "done by hands" instead of "handbook" in Transifex, and now we've got in the Polish localization MX-Tools a funny button "Ręcznie" (done by hands) instead of "Podręcznik" (Manual/Handbook). I've already fixed it in Transifex a couple of days before, but in MXRC there is this old wrong translation.

There is definitely a MXFB manual in PL -- aha! I see a space in the file names, will correct and repackage today--DONE.

I'll look at the other application localization failures (all in mxfb-accessories), not sure what is going on there--perhaps @dolphin_oracle will see something.
