******A major issue with the installer was found on the shipping ISOS that could wipe ESP partitions, even if not selected for installation. Please update the installer BEFORE running any installs.***

MX-23 (Xfce) RC 1 isos are now available. Full announcement tomorrow, but forum users get the early news

I asked Jerry yesterday if I would need to re-install fluxbox-RC1 and he said not likely because the change to the new one would be the installer (was black with white lettering) and localization's with the menus.
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

The Installer changes will come through regular updates, apparently, since I had an update this morning. But the MXFB changes will only show up if you create a new user, and they are now somewhat more significant than they were when I wrote yesterday. With User Installed Packages and reusing home a new installation would be downright simple.
Production: 5.10, MX-23 Xfce, AMD FX-4130 Quad-Core, GeForce GT 630/PCIe/SSE2, 16 GB, SSD 120 GB, Data 1TB
Personal: Lenovo X1 Carbon with MX-23 Fluxbox
Other: Raspberry Pi 5 with MX-23 Xfce Raspberry Pi Respin

Thank you very much! 👍✨

Ah, while I was writing this, the discussion kind of already went to this direction :) ... So yeah, I was going to ask, if one has a fully functioning test system already migrated from MX-21 to MX-23 beta 2, can the RC1 updates be received in a regular fashion through the repos / MX Package Installer? Regarding the whole system, not just Fluxbox (which incidentally is what I'm using, in any case, as well!)

So if there were any problems with the RC1 that is on the mirrors now, you would pull them and replace it?

"If you have downloaded a RC1 release before announced, there is a possibility they will change before the announcement"

Seems clear enough ;)

Not sure if this completely answers your question, but I asked a similar one in the beta forums.

No, the beta releases will not upgrade automatically to the final release.

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.
