LXQT 1.3.0 should now be in the MX 23 test repository. Since we don't have that many packages in it overall, one easy way to try it is to install the Bookworm lxqt metapackage, and then use MXPI to search for upgradable packages in the test repo tab.

Have you tried it yet? I am backporting it for mx21, which has had more hurdles, but will be done later today. I would like to see if we can get it into mx23 main before release and then maybe brag about it a bit in the release announcement.

The "lxqt" metapackage is unchanged in Debian 10, 11, and 12, just listing unversioned sets of packages. That why I asked MX 23 users to just install the Debian lxqt, then in MXPI, use the test repo tab to see and install the highlighted upgradeable packages.

Hmmm--we have Falkon in that test repo, too. Since that's also a Qt 5 browser, it might be a good match for LXQT.

I'll make a new metapackage that will have versions in it to make installs easier, though, just real busy ATM.

Okay, I figured (blundered my way through) it out. I am on the LXQT DE. Do I leave the MX TESTREPO enabled or I am thinking that I should disable it now that I have the DE?

There are some icons missing and the odd (or it might be even) error message but seems okay at first look.

I know you have your hands full with the RC1 so I am not going to go into a bunch of posts about issues with LXQT. I will wait until you have some time to look into them.

So far, looks and seems good. Off to play around some.

Re-read Stevo's instructions, you were not supposed to enable the test repo, just filter "upgradable packages" from the "test" tab of MXPI (which enables it *temporarily*)
If you did a dist-upgrade with a permanently enabled test repo you probably got all sorts of extra upgrades that may cause problems unrelated to LXQT.

PS: this being MX23 there probably isn't much in the test repository yet, so less potential for unwanted updates, but you should disable it now that you have installed what you wanted.

No issues at this point, other than the missing icon issue. No smoke, no lock-ups, no crashes.
I am playing around with MX23AHSRC1 on a CF-31 Toughbook I am gifting to a deceased friends son as he joins the workforce.
I will get back to the unit with the LXQT DE once the 31 is ready to go.

A bit OT but I find it sad that the op can't be bothered (as requested by the person who spent time building the deb packages) to provide feedback for an app they requested. (Not for the first time either).

I can not speak about the OP's character so I can not make a judgement like that.

I can say that life can change in a matter of moments sometimes.

Price of oil became less than bottled water, my job vanished overnight. No work locally so drifted around taking whatever work I could find. Had no internet access for almost 4 months. Following up on posts made to a forum was low on my To Do list when I did get access.

Last year about this time, I was out walking my dog and was assaulted with a weapon, very lucky to have survived. Took weeks to get my head cleared from the blows to my head.

Could be a good reason the OP has not replied with feedback.

Or he could be a flake.

Time will let us know.

This is a follow-up post. Going forward, if I have any issues with LXQT I will start a new thread in the appropriate section of the forum.

The one issue I noticed with LXQT upon initial install was that a couple icons were missing from the system bar. It was the MX Updater and volume (I think but cannot remember for sure) icon. The volume, or whatever, showed up on a reboot and for the MX Updater icon I went into the Preferences and changed the icon style from wireframe w/a green and a black icon, to wireframe w/a green and white icon. Now I have a white wireframe box when there are no updates and a green box when there are updates.

I have tried the suspend and hibernate functions and both work OOTB. The screen brightness dims and brightens as it did w/windose. Bluetooth connects to my mouse and speaker w/o any issues. If they are both turned on when I boot the laptop, they both connect automatically when I get to the desktop. VLC plays 1080p racing videos w/o issues. No issues with the networks, although I have not had a chance to test the WWAN, but I do not expect problems as it shows up in the QSI. All in all it seems good.
