Can you hold off on the package requests for an MX version that hasn't been released yet? Thank you.

I beg to differ, please remind us of what we need to add that we have already for previous MX releases!

Thank You, Stevo!

N.B. What about make AzPainter app a part of MX Linux MX-23 distribution? (in addition or as a replacement to default LazPaint app)

Lobby for AzPainter in the MX 23 development threads, where it should get more attention.

BTW, I also did apdtool while I was at it:

Code: Select all

Description: apd and adw file tool
 apdtool is APD(AzPaineter)/ADW(AzDrawing) file tool.
 .
 Features:
 .
  * Can read APD v1-v3 and ADW v1-v2 files.
  * A single picture with layers combined can be batch converted to PNG/BMP/PSD.
  * Images of each layer can be extracted as PNG/BMP/PSD.
  * A16bit/A1bit layer texture can be converted to a specified color layer
based on the texture image path.(You can convert a tone image to grayscale)
Dang! Should have seen & fixed that Azpaineter typo when I ported that package from its PPA.

It's in the MX 23 beta2 testing thread right now. Any tester can lobby for default app changes there; if not that, at least get it listed in MXPI's Popular Apps/ Graphics section,

As long as LazPaint gets the boot, I'm happy. I don't think MX should be allowing programs that have a serious bug as default, much less be in the stable repo, and honestly, I'm surprised the program even got through Debian testing.

Arnox: Could you please elaborate or provide a link concerning the LazPaint problem you referred to? I just discovered the app and am not sure what I should be watching for as I use it. I haven't discovered anything serious, yet, but would like to avoid any surprises. Thanks.

Check the mx23 alpha thread. It was the default drawing program at that time.

Program will insta-crash when trying to change canvas size. I think it only happens with the Qt version of it, but I can't remember exactly, and there might be more bugs as well.

Thank you, Stevo! Tested it and with no issues.

Regarding AZPainter:
1. it gets no description in the Whisker Menu.

2. I found AZPaint's UI so pointlessly idiosyncratic (vs LazPaint or even GIMP) that I uninstalled it (beyond what I would consider matters of taste, but at least not CSD).

Regarding LazPaint (OT but it was mentioned):
1. its description in the Menu is just "LazPaint" which doesn't really help: I mean, if it said "Microsoft Office" that would be meaningful, and surprising, and if it said "Unstable pixel graphics editor" that would be helpful, and possibly accurate)

2. at least one issue with LazPaint is a recoverable EAccesViolation crash when opening the program from the Whisker Menu, completely repeatable with MX23.2 x86 and fixed by clearing the "Run in terminal" flag for the menu item; there's no crash when starting the program from the shell command line, but it suggests that saving your work frequently would be good practice when using the program.
