Is there active development?

On the website for
Fluxbox is stated the last developement was in 2015, version 1.3.7. The github shows also that there was the last commit in July 2022. So the question may be asked: Who supports it? Should the information on Wikipedia eventually updated?

You're looking the the original developers of Fluxbox. Here Fluxbox is a fork from that. Because here at MX you're looking at a fork of Fluxbox. Which they call MX-Fluxbox. The fork is develop by the MX team.

Numerous Window Managers are functionally stabilized: Fluxbox, Openbox, bspwm, among others. That does not that they are unusable or otherwise 'horrible'. People are free to use and extend them as they wish. It is just that the 'last' window manager (or Desktop Enviroment) development team has moved on. Sometimes old, stabilized window managers or Desktop Environments are revived by other/ next generation devs... such as FVWM, PekWM and Maté. So it goes @peter_li

But Debian on packages.debian.org uses still the original version 1.35 or 1.37 and do their own patches? Is there some information/teamwork between the teams? Or will the devs of MX Linux not part with Debian?

Thats fine, but there is also stated: Stable release: 1.3.7 / 8 February 2015 on the english WP in the infobox. The information about Fluxbox in MX Linux is in the english but missing in the german WP where I live.

hello peter_li
You are in the middle of it. fluxbox development. use newest mx-fluxbox.
antiX fluxbox 1.3.7 over 1.3.5 has new features.
The feature changes are huge in mx fluxbox 1.3.7+git(mx23) over 1.3.7
that big changes usually gets a version number change; this time no; the number does not reveal the recent development.

Great to know developments are still there. Currently, younger may not have same interests as earlier, but time will come again. I took interest in Fvwm seeing @rasat additional scripts (modules, decors, styles) adding to default config. I suggested making it KIS (keep-it-simple), and now it is going on and becoming elegant.

Same with Fluxbox, just need a few ones keeping it alive until next wave.

We register the MX Fluxbox development status in "About MX-FLuxbox" (shown in MX Welcome > About) where the version has now reached 4.0 because of the large amount of development for MX-23.

You could do the German readers of WIKI a favor,
peter_li, just hit the 'Edit' tab at the top of the German version, and edit-in (auf deutsche) the line or so from the English version about the MX 'fork'. At the bottom, where you explain the edit, mention that this is from the English WIKI page. This will also give MX a bit of advertising among our German friends!
