MP3gain .deb package? [Solved]
MP3gain .deb package?
Hello, everyone.
I'm trying to find MP3gain (gui) for MX 21.3 but I come across a 32-bit .deb package which crashes instantly when I add a song to normalize.
Would it be possible to have this super valuable package available for us music lovers?
Thanks in advance.

Eh?
Code: Select all
$ apt policy mp3gain
mp3gain:
Installed: (none)
Candidate: 1.6.2-2
Version table:

What do you get for the same command, "apt policy mp3gain"?Stevo wrote: Mon Jun 05, 2023 3:08 pm![]()

Re: MP3gain .deb package?
I get the same output but there is no GUI for that.
I mentioned that in my post. Is it so difficult to build a frontend for that?

Re: MP3gain .deb package? [Solved]
MX17/stretch and MX19/buster had easymp3gain but MX21/bullseye does not...
NB: i see there are qt4 & gtk2 versions, both libraries more or less deprecated - FWIW the gtk2 version works fine on MX21 (i have not tried on bookworm yet)

Re: MP3gain .deb package?
Many thanks! The gtk2 version worked.
Re: MP3gain .deb package?
I'll see if they can be rebuilt for the newer MX releases. I mean the gtk2 version, qt4 is removed from Debian.

Re: MP3gain .deb package?
I see easymp3gain in the repository for MX-21.3. I had to install the dependencies first because it didn't pull them in on its own. I installed mp3gain and vorbisgain but the other dependency, aacgain, isn't in the repository so I was still unable to install easymp3gain.
The Synaptic error after pre-installing mp3gain and vorbisgain...
easymp3gain:
Depends: aacgain but it is not installable
Is it possible to include aacgain in the repo?

Re: MP3gain .deb package?
Whoops, I just have to rebuild that from the MX 19 repo for current and future MX. Hang on a few minutes....

Re: MP3gain .deb package?
OK, there's a newer 2.0.0 aacgain, but I can only build it with the newer gcc-12 in MX 23. So I have 1.9 packages for MX 21:

Also headed to the main repos.
