Please update Chrome

#1 Post by Mauser »

Currently MX Linux has Chrome Version 112.0.5615.121 (Official Build) (64-bit) which has security vulnerabilities. The fix is to upgrade to Version 112.0.5615.138 (Official Build) (64-bit). He is the video about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJ08sst7kco
I am command line illiterate. :confused: I copy & paste to the terminal. Liars, Wiseguys, Trolls, and those without manners will be added to my ignore list. :mad:

There's an update available now that raises Chrome to 112.0.5615.165
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

"Chrome" is usually taken to mean GOOGLE Chrome, and Google retains the right to control it. It's not open source, and not in our repos; the Debian open source version is called Chromium, and has significant differences.
MXPI = MX Package Installer
QSI = Quick System Info from menu
The MX Test repository is mostly backports; not the same as Debian testing

google maintains their own repo for chrome updates, which is enabled when chrome is installed.

FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.
