I posted about this a couple of months ago in the Development forum, and am now changing to a real request after getting no response.

this shouldn't effect anything on any systems pre-bookworm. those using the alpha will see the clock vanish after a reboot. I'll build the next panel with a different clock. I was surprised that debian's 4.16 orage in bookworm still had the orage clock plugin.

so long and short, should be OK everywhere.

fair warning, the source links from archive.xfce.org do work, but the project page listed for orage does not and Xfce does not list it on their main project pages. the docs page https://docs.xfce.org/apps/orage/start was updated fairly recently so the project website link might just be out of date.

I saw problems in the documentation as well. They really hesitated about continuing/restoring this app and it shows.
