Lastly, I searched Synaptic Package Manager for the wine-staging-i386 package and it was not listed.

Thanks for your help in resolving this issue.

I have a feeling it's not working because the Dependency in wine-staging is for wine-staging-i386 - but that's an i386 architecture package and it's looking for an amd64 arch package.
Try running

Code: Select all

sudo apt install wine-staging-i386:i386 wine-staging
HP Pavillion TP01, AMD Ryzen 3 5300G (quad core), Crucial 500GB SSD, Toshiba 6TB 7200rpm
Dell Inspiron 15, AMD Ryzen 7 2700u (quad core). Sabrent 500GB nvme, Seagate 1TB

IIRC that package is what allows Wine to run 32-bit Windows programs on Wine with a 64-bit host. I've encountered a few freeware/shareware Windows programs that used a 32-bit installer instead of a paid 64-bit one.

A caveat - most of my Wine knowledge is 7+ years old, so finding out the above isn't the case anymore will not upset me.

No luck running that code. :frown:

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt install wine-staging-i386:i386 wine-staging

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
wine-staging-i386:i386 : Depends: libgphoto2-6:i386 (>= 2.5.10) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libasound2-plugins:i386 but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
Checked Synaptic and it shows libgphoto2-6 (ver 2.55.22-3) and libasound2-plugins (ver 1.1.8-1) (both without the ":i386") are installed.
