Some corrections for Section 1

Hello,
First, I'd like to say thanks for the great documentation. I've made some light changes to Section 1 (please see attached file). I used the "Track Changes" feature of LibreOffice (not sure what the standard procedure is). If these changes are useful, I'll continue with Section 2.
Out of curiosity, is there a style guide for the documentation? I think that this would be very useful for new contributors. It would also make the documentation consistent. If there isn't one, I'm willing to write one (with input from maintainers).
