Trouble with live usb

#1 Post by shellback »

When I create a live usb on my laptop, it won't run on my desktop due to the
difference in monitors. Is there a work around?

Thanks

How are you creating it? I've never seen that happen when the device was created with MX's Live USB Maker or Rufus on Windows.

Also, we need your computer’s complete profile before we can diagnose a problem like this, so you need to post the output from the QSI utility. The Quick System Info (QSI) utility is located in MX Tools and its output is automatically formatted for use here in the forum. Run the QSI utility, click “Copy for Forum” at the bottom and then just paste it here in your thread.

HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Do you mean instead that you are creating a snapshot?

I created a snapshot on the laptop.

Then I created a live usb from the iso

The live usb boots and runs fine on the laptop

On the desktop it hangs right after the udev done

There's a brief message pertaining to the monitor settings.

Can you check /var/log/dmesg and /var/log/syslog? (the new Quick System Info should be able to display the logs too)
