scrot 1.8

The command-line
scrot is the backend for Quickshot, and its development stopped over a decade ago. But it has been picked up by an interesting group concentrating on resurrecting open source projects, and they have just released a useful upgrade (have not tried to compile):
https://github.com/resurrecting-open-so ... /tag/1.8.1
Arch and others have adopted this version and I would really like to be able to test it for adoption by the time of the release of the development version of Quickshot now near completion...if there is time and inclination.
Thanks.
BTW: they have just merged a patch to "Add delay to all capture options" and I will be keeping an eye on that for sure.

It's been a couple of weeks and we're about to release an upgraded Quickshot by the end of the weekend, so I'd like to renew my request.
I saw that in the meantime 1.8 became available in Debian Backports. I installed and tested for our needs, all good.

I'll port it over for main; your request fell behind the couch cushions...

Not a problem, you had much bigger fish to fry and I was not in a hurry.

Hah, yeah, running around putting out fires...Youtube just broke most of the downloaders, so I updated yt-dlp in our repos to a working version.

Sorry, but: did this get lost again?
(Why I ask: the app is out and I'm uploading the video today.)

Just uploaded it for main:

I had some problems with backporting the latest nvidia-driver in Bookworm, but figured those out eventually, but it took time.

Hello Stevo, Thanks; MX21 installed scrot 1.8 from main; it works.
xfce, no problems.
fluxbox plus spacefm --desktop, can encounter drastic bug using scrot option -b -s.
fluxbox plus zzzfm --desktop, can encounter drastic bug using scrot option -b -s.
A scrot version leap for buster too! Another Thanks. MX19 now has scrot -p and all the new features of scrot.
mxfluxbox good news steady improvements scrot and libimlibtoo
There are improvements from previous scrot versions= the -b that captures wm borders had bugs with -s. Those bugs are gone in mxfluxbox. There remains a -b bug when used with -u; the captured window redraws to top layer; it must be clicked to regain control of window stacking. In mxfluxbox it is now very minor bug compared to previous versions of scrot. You will hardly notice the -u -b bug after clicking around a bit after the capture.
Jerry3904, You are accurate with your statement that for mxfbQuickshot purposes 1.8 works; it was wise to yet avoid any use of the -b option in Quickshot. mxfb-quickshot Variable "TIMEOUT" is superfluous. Video!
Happy Holiday.
