Hello,
I wanted to delete a shortcut in the start menu and now I have no taskbars and no menus. Neither at the top nor at the bottom. Where can I restore them?

So, is it the latest release ? (Xfce ?)
If yes, you can use "MX Tweak" to turn panel to defaults.

Re: Help - no taskbars and not menus on the desktop
There must be a bug in "MX TWEAKS" (?). When I tried to change the position of the panel to horizontal, it disappeared along with the menu. Situation as described above. Fortunately, there is an option "Restore backup panel configuration". After restoring the panel, I tried to make a backup of the panel: "Backup current panel configuration" . Unfortunately, I couldn't find the backup file anywhere. Such a file was not created and the application did not report any problem. I tested it several times and every time the situation was the same: no backup file, no error warning. From documentation I found out that the backup should be created in ~/.restore folder. Unfortunately, the application did not create such a folder so it wasn't posssible to write any backup file there. Only after creating the folder ~/.restore manually everything did start working fine.Huckleberry Finn wrote: Thu Dec 15, 2022 8:45 am If yes, you can use "MX Tweak" to turn panel to defaults.

Thank you for the feedback. Devs are reading these and they'll have a look if something's missing/broken at that point with the latest version of MX Tweak .spc wrote: Thu Dec 15, 2022 11:23 am... Only after creating the folder ~/.restore manually everything did start working fine.
Re: Help - no taskbars and not menus on the desktop
Just btw. One can also backup the current panel manually:
And use the xfce4-panel.xml.old renaming back to .xml any time needed.
Code: Select all
cp ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-panel.xml{,.old}
Re: Help - no taskbars and not menus on the desktop
Hi,
AVL doesn't ship the MX Desktop defaults since I'm using very different themes, icons and configs, MX Tweak is fine for it's intended purpose so it's not a Tweak problem.. I'm puzzled why the Panel(s) disappeared in the first place when a launcher was deleted, I can't reproduce that here..
Tweak is very MX-centric which is of course expected but all of it's restore functions won't work in AVL. The original default configuration files should always be in /etc/skel/.config/xfce4 though so in the event the wheels come off copying those configs should restore things to the default.. I should probably make a restore script of my own to do that in case of lost configs..
