I would get the usb 3 adapter because it will likely fit more devices.

If it is for hard line ethernet rj45 cable to hook up your dell chromebook. It is the right one. Just remember. You only have one usb 3 port. If wanting to run splitter adapter. Make sure it is also usb 3.0 compatible.
