Nvidia 340 series driver issues.

#1 Post by galaxysurfer »

Running against wall for DVR application.

I have the required nouveau drivers installed. They work for the most part except for the new drm changes. I also have other video cards running on win 10 that don't exhibit the same problem post drm changes.

See https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepo ... bug=990662.

https://wiki.debian.org/Firmware

Is there anything that can be done for this other than changing the affected cards or leaving MX Linux for the Uxxx which supports my tuner cards in addition to which I'd rather not do?

I want to know what my best options are? I don't want to invest in more hardware at this point if the whole system is undergoing dramatic change until the dust settles so to speak.

Do I just need to wait for fixes to be put into place as per Debian firmware link?

I want to stay with my old school dvr way of viewing content as long as possible. I see their attempts as merely greed based attempt to control the whole thing. Historically we were always allowed to record OTA for private viewing. Now it seems they want us to pay more & more. It never ends. This to me violates Fairplay agreements. I know there will always be bad actors who abuse the system.

Guess it may be reaching a time to mourn the whole thing & call it a day. Time to find a new or alternative way to find entertainment. I am not willing to pay to view content that is all a sales pitch or propaganda. I won't say more since that coasts deeper into politics area.
