First new computer in years

Until 2 days ago, the newest machine I had was a Lenovo T440s, 4th gen Intel I7. Was in Walmart and saw one I liked and bought it. It's a Lenovo Ideapad 3, Ryzen 7, 8GB RAM, 512 GB drive. So far I'm impressed. This morning I made a snapshot with xz compression in under 3 minutes. Really feels odd to have an octa-core machine but I'm getting used to it.

Prefer BIOS/MBR to UEFI/GPT as the former is easier to manage for the most part. Have to go with the times though. MX 21 installed smoothly and runs great on it.

Hi!

Congrats on the new ride! If it has or supports NVMe drives you'll notice another big gain in file i/o speed too..

When I built my latest AMD-based Threadripper PC it almost finished me with Linux in general, I had to wait for a couple of new kernel revisions up until 5.14 until it wasn't completely squirelly but it looks like you are doing well, are you using MX with the 5.10 or 5.19 kernel?

Bought an Ideapad 3 a few years ago and they're pretty reliable. Haven't tried MX on it yet. They make great little Debian servers with docker.
