occasionally my panel icons don't display properly - latest mx ahs, xfce

#1 Post by cmhobbs »

Once in a while, my panel icons for open applications just turn to a gray rectangle. I'm not sure what causes it because I don't always notice it happening. Eventually they come back.

Image

Minor annoyance. Any idea what I might have done to cause that? This is a relatively fresh install.

Thanks!

Please post Quick System Info. because we don't know what desktop environment you have.
I am command line illiterate. I copy & paste to the terminal. Liars, Wiseguys, Trolls, and those without manners will be added to my ignore list.

Does it turn to normal if you restart the panel ?

Code: Select all

xfce4-panel -r
Especially @Coastie

And @cmhobbs if it takes too short to try in a terminal, you can assign a key, say F8, from "Keyboard" - "App. Shortcuts" tab with that command and press it once when that happens.

At least till we understand what causes that.

Since those icons look like Docklike: You can also:

First backup the current panel (if you like) using "MX Tweak"

then remove Docklike from panel (preferences ... "Items" tab..) and see if it still occurs.

... In case that works (or at least till test is over) you can add "Window Buttons" to panel and remove Docklike.

I don't mind using that one liner now and again. It's really not a big issue. Can I mark your post as the solution, Huck?
