I've used MX Linux Daily since I became a new user in April 2022. It's run without flaw until the other day but that was due to a grub problem and my error. So here's my complaint--


The COMPLAINT
Since installing MX Linux 5 months ago, until Sept 12, I haven't had to repair one damn thing!!! MX Linux just works. The updates never fail. So I haven't had to reinstall, screw with running Linux commands or changing configuration files in all that time and my Linux linguistics has become rusty! I spent 8-10 years on other Linux distros and find this an extremely unusual experience.

So, I'd like to say--- THANK All of YOU at MX LINUX who have made your distribution GREAT and #1 in my book!!!!

I know, I've found myself in the same position, so I got O'Reilly's "Linux Pocket Guide" 3rd edition, and it's been a life saver.

Maybe we can add some warnings about those kind of Debian gotchas in a separate MX QuickStart Guide document. Things such as choosing to keep the modified version of any config files instead of the ones that Debian pushes with updates, how we now have PRIME installing for hybrid graphic laptops & how to use it, and advising Timeshift or MX snapshot backups.

I think the best place for an MX suggestion for GRUB updates like we just had would be during the actual update where the options are given during the GRUB update, and where users are reading the explanations for those options, if that is possible (that may be a big "if").

For the few (I'm guessing) that actually read the "Quick Start Guide", how many would remember it a month or year(s) later?
