Dep-Package for new Printer- Problems

Hi there,

I bought myself a new printer after my old HP Printer suddenly died.

The new printer is a Epson Expression Home XP-3150.
I want to run it in MX 21.2 and downloaded the package "epson-inkjet-printer-escpr_1.7.21-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb"
When I install it in Discover a message appears "Failed to resolve dependencies" but no explanation of what has failed exactly.

When I run it from a terminal I get this:

Code: Select all

root@<<user>>:/home/User/Downloads/Epson-XP-3150# apt install /home/User/Downloads/Epson-XP-3150/epson-inkjet-printer-escpr_1.7.21-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb
Paketlisten werden gelesen… Fertig
Abhängigkeitsbaum wird aufgebaut… Fertig
Statusinformationen werden eingelesen… Fertig

lsb (>= 3.2) is alsready installed!

So what can I do?

Thank you all in advance.

First let me say that the debian driver that cups is using uses the same source code from Epson as the deb you downloaded from Epson.
However the version is newer (1.7.21 > 1.7.8 ) so I built a deb from the source package in their download links.
I wouldn't expect a major difference from what you already have, but I'd be happy to be wrong. If it works better for you it's probably worth putting in the repo.

Hello @timkb4cq , thank you for helping me out of that mess.

It had worked. I double clicked your deb-package and Discover installed it without any failures.
After that also the Scanner Driver (I only need the Core Driver) was installed without any problems.
Now anything works fine and I can print and scan without any problems.

Hello @timkb4cq,

I've changed my system to XFCE-ahs and when trying to install my printer epson XP-3150 the problem that the dep-package "epson-inkjet-printer-escpr_1.7.22-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb" cannot be installed.
Furthermore, I cannot find the driver Version 1.7.8. Please see "http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/searc ... archModule"

Can you please tell me, where you have found Version 1.7.8 so that I can try to build a deb from the source package in their download links and how to put it in my repo?

Thanks in advance

Version 1.7.8-1 is in the Main debian bullseye repository.

But the deb I built should work fine in the AHS release - printer drivers are Window Manager agnostic. The link I placed above is still good.

@timkb4cq , it worked with Synaptik and the searcht "espc".
Strangely I cannot open the link to http://teharris.net/misc/epson-inkjet-p ... _amd64.deb directly out of the forum. When trying Chrome flashes but no site is opening. But I managed to download your dep-package and save it on a separate USB Drive to secure it this time by copying the URL in a new tab. Thanx again.
