Need glibc_2.29 for minecraft

#1 Post by Qiset »

A recent upgrade to minecraft resulted in an inability to run the game.
From it's log file, it needs glibc_2.29. I'm running mxlinux 19.4. I'm
running on an AMD 64 bit system which I think uses glibc_2.28 with a GeForce GT 710B
video card and the nvidia drivers.
I've searched but can't find a way to upgrade to the new version of glibc.
So how do I get glibc_2.29 aside from migrating to a new version of mxlinux?

You can put in a package request in the MX19 package requests forum. I will move this over there for now, so next time you know where it is. :)

glibc is one of those core packages that I doubt can be updated on an older system.

Perhaps use the flatpak version of minecraft?

I know it's really not an optimal option, but if you plan to do any kind of modern gaming, I would highly recommend upgrading to MX 21 if you're willing.

But yes, as asqwerth said, the Flatpak version is always available, if rather chunky.
