IsakLinux -- My MX Linux Respin

Hello!

I found MX a while back and quickly fell in love with the OS. I have been a distrohopper for over 6 years. I am finally satisfied with MX Linux, and its amazing tools that come with it, as well as its stability and package availability.

I made a respin with GNOME, optimized PulseAudio quality, privacy-optimized Firefox, NVidia driver (starts automatically using systemd), native fingerprint support, systemd, and more. I personally have nothing against systemd and it was the only way I could get the NVidia driver to work properly across several systems. I am very satisfied with the result, which is a friendly environment for the Windows 11 user and the macOS convert:

There's also a site for the project but I don't know if I am allowed to put the link here.

Please wait a few minutes before logging in to the “user” account when booting from a USB (or try logging in several times), as there is a minor bug, which is not reflected in the installed system.

Feedback is appreciated. Thanks for your attention.

IsakLinux 3.0 "Electric" has been released and uploaded: https://drive.google.com/uc?export=down ... mjRwintzBI

For now, earlier download mirrors cannot be sustained; as such, only the latest version can be downloaded.

Most changes in 3.0 are minor bug fixes and aesthetic changes.

To install on a drive, you need to open "MX Welcome" after booting to the live medium.

To reaffirm, the objective of IsakLinux is to provide a respin of MX Linux which is suitable for tech newbies and experts alike, for anything from simple browsing to professional audio production.
The interface has been chosen to comfort users with experience of macOS and Windows (in particular 11). It has been customized to work out of the box as smoothly as possible; this included activating systemd and letting it start the NVidia Driver in Persistence Mode (if available). I found that the NVidia Driver did not start at boot correctly without this patch. It also meant releasing the OS as a snapshot with the user account predefined, but the user name is easily changed using "MX User Manager", and a fingerprint can be added in the Gnome Settings (if applicable). In the testing, I had issues with snapshots that did not include the user account. The user account is completely clean and empty.

Enjoy.

Oh they will! It usually takes a few days in my experience to get some feedback.. I maintain 3 of my own MX 'children' and am stingy about RAM consumption so I probably won't try it at least for a while. I would guess it will find a niche. MX is not exactly known as a Gnome stronghold but there is definitely User interest here.

Just one day after 3.0, I am now releasing IsakLinux 4.0 "Stamina" -- the most complete version so far.

https://gcdnb.pbrd.co/images/iWUds2v1IALC.png?o=1

The bottom panel has been replaced with a dock, the window buttons have been moved to the left, two new buttons have been added to the top panel for easier navigation.
Night Light is enabled by default, because it is desired by many, including myself. It is easy to turn off.
Display scaling has been slightly increased for better readability.
Neater icons have been installed.
LibreOffice and VLC are preinstalled. Did a minor cleanup of some packages not needed in this system.
Boot menu has been turned off for faster boot. Easy to change with MX Boot Options.

For now, development of IsakLinux will take cool off, unless bugs are found (in which case a 4.0.x would be released). There's not so much to change now, to me the system is quite perfect. Of course releases will be made in the future, but for now it is complete for my needs.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Here's the download link: https://archive.org/download/isak-linux ... tamina.iso
