Passkeys technology said to be in the pipeline

#1 Post by linexer2016 »

I read that passkeys will be implemented by the major tech companies inside of 12 to 18 months. The idea is that passwords are not as secure as passkeys (or so the author of the article contends) and it was cited that the top 10 passwords many people used in 2021 were very easily guessed; things like 123456 etc. Well that may be however, I can't see biometric implementations necessarily replacing passwords at least not overnight. Anyone have any thoughts on passkeys v passwords?

Google supposedly has now implemented passkeys to replace passwords, but it claims that it cannot create a passkey for this device (meaning-- my laptop running MX linux 21.3...)
As is often the case, passkeys work just fine on the same machine running Windows 11 (dual boot).
