Nvidia driver update link in MX Tools interface

#1 Post by Racer24 »

Nvidia driver tool.. it works from the whisker menu & cli for me, but not the graphic MX tools link.. does anyone else have this issue.. I know it was working around a month ago, but, in the last 2 weeks when I select it to check for updates, MX Tools interface disappears (like usual when using the tools there) but the terminal window fails to load on screen.. after a few minutes, the toolbox re-appears.

Re: Nvidia driver update link in MX Tools interface  [Solved]

Will look into it but for now stick t the menu entry. We recently changed how it is launched.

Also fwiw there is no need to run the tool to check for updates. If you have nvidia-driver installed if the packages are updated they will show up in the regular updates tool.

@Adrian weird bug. if mx-tools is launched from a terminal then launching the ddm-mx tool works. but otherwise it fails.

How does it fail? It seems to launch in both situations for me, can't test more because I don't actually have an Nvidia card, the command just exits.

B/c it ignors the desktop-entry property:

Code: Select all

Terminal=true
and runs just this - the Exec-line with the desktop-entry:

Code: Select all

sh -c "pkexec /usr/bin/ddm-mx -i nvidia"
and ddm-mx seem to "assume" it is running in a terminal,
and fails to wait for user input.

thanks Dolphin, and everyone else.. it only fails for me when I try the icon in the Toolbox, I thought it was odd, then, today I spent some time and tried both the cli command and the whisker menu link.. both worked...

in any event, it's all good.. been very pleased with MX for years now :) Keep up the good work guys :)

hmm, it used to catch the terminal prompt. that hasn't changed.

well something changed. the terminal switch is now picking up the name of the app instead of the "true/false" from the desktop file. should be easy enough to fix.
