used Nvidia driver installer, ssd disappeared

#1 Post by TauTsar »

Installed a PNY NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 1030, it works while I'm using the nouveau driver.

Used MX's nvidia driver installer, then rebooted to a blank screen. Running live usb my ssd drive doesn't show up. Tried grub repair, file explorer, install from the live usb, the ssd is gone.

Even if I had taken a snapshot, which in my excitement I did not, restoring it would seem to be impossible.

Please offer some advice on how I recover from this.

I should also add I'v been unable to install the NVIDIA drivers into the live usb as-well. I'm new to video cards and don't know what extra functionality the proprietary drivers provide.

It sounds like a coincidence . Maybe there's something with the ssd. Have you tried taking it out then re-seat ? (unplug , plug) ... If still not, I would try what happens on another machine .
