I am a former Simply MEPIS user from way back, and I'm interested in perhaps switching over to MX Linux - KDE on a desktop that is currently running openSUSE.
Last month I burned a live USB of the MX 21 - KDE to a USB key, but it failed to boot on my desktop system. Here are the details:
- The bootup freezes as KDE is loading.
- MX 21 - KDE runs fine on this system as a virtual machine on PlayOnLinux.
- This same live USB could boot successfully on an older Acer laptop with a 1080p screen.
- The desktop system on which MX21-KDE fails to load has an Asus GeForce GTX 750 Ti graphics card, with a 4K monitor connected via HDMI.
- Suspecting that the 4K resolution might be the issue, I tried booting the live USB key on this system with only a VGA monitor attached, and bootup completed.
- MX 21 with XCFE boots successfully with the 4K monitor attached to this system.
