I've tried reinstalling from the package manager but its still only version 90. Apparently the current release is 95. I'm wondering why the update manager hasnt taken care of this like it does with Chrome.

I'm still on MX 19.4

maybe your repo mirrors have a problem. 95 is available for mx19.

does anything else update besides chrome? (chrome isn't in our repo, it updates from google's).

Menu => "MX Repo Manager" , change to one of these:
(These are MX's own mirrors.)
