It would be quite awesome to have the backup tool Duplicati included somewhere in MXPI. The reason why I'm asking for another backup tool to be included is, that this one provides AES encryption and a graphical interface. All other applications I know either provide encryption (borgbackup) or the graphical interface (Back in Time; this one uses EncFS for encryption but there are known vulnerabilities so I don't want to use it).
The duplicati .deb package can be downloaded here: https://www.duplicati.com/download

I can look at it, they have Debian packaging files done, just won’t know if thy are up to date and good until a build is tried.

I just wanted to say, that there is a graphical interface for borg.
It's name is Vorta. -> https://github.com/borgbase/vorta
It is in the MXPI Debian Backports (MX-19).
I use it. It works well.
You find it also as flatpack. I have also used the flatpack version of Vorta. It works well.
Vorta is very fast and the "incremental" backups take less HDD space. However you can only backup your personal data (home) with Vorta, not "/" .
In Flatpack is the newest version. The version in Backports is some month old.
Just wanted to give this hint.

hey @Duliwi , thanks a lot for the hint. I somehow managed to never find Vorta even though it seems to be exactly what I was looking for. I'll give it a try.
So @SwampRabbit thank's for offering to package Duplicati but I'm not sure how to continue now. As I was probably the only one asking for Duplicati and as I now maybe have another solution there might be no need for packaging it. What do you think?

@Coffeenerd ok, that’s kinda good because I spent about 45mins read the build docs for this, working through a few issues, and the build still fails about 75% though.
They have recently change how the build is done a bit, not sure if it’s 100% right now, but it doesn’t build yet in a typical pbuilder schroot that we use.
I’ll probably reach out to the devs and let them know and see what can be done, but that won’t be fast either way.

@SwampRabbit I'm sorry to hear that the packaging causes trouble. Really wasn't my intention...
If you decide and manage to pack it into MXPI I'll help testing if that's somehow needed.
I've been playing around with Vorta for a while now and it works quite nice so far. Chances are good that I found what I was looking for.

@Coffeenerd its not a problem at all, but it could be one of the reasons it hasn’t made it into the actual Debian repos.
I’ll play around with it when I have time.
