MX default key-bindings

(QSI not appropriate for this query)

Several Facebook group members have run into trouble with the key-bindings that MX Linux provides by default. It seems they have clicked the 'Default' button on the settings page where the user can set bindings, which of course reverts to the KDE defaults, meaning they lose the ability to open the menu with just the Meta key for example.

May I have some advice I can give to help them restore the settings to the MX Linux ones please? I've had a poke about on a spare machine, but can't find where these are defined.

Great ongoing support for the FB group, Chris! We're going to have to invent a special title for you.

Thanks. (I've been called 'special' before!)

IIRC you need to set the menu to use Alt+F1. plasma doesn't actually allow setting to meta/super on its own, but it does do something hacky with alt+f1.

Thanks; users who have set to default end up with Alt-F1 working, but not the Meta key.

ALT+F1 is how we have it set by default. is there any option in the application menu itself?

**edit*** just looked and we have it set in two places. in the kglobalshortcutsrc and in the widget settings contained in plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc

I don't think we have control over KDE defaults, if user select "restore to default" it will restore to KDE default and there's not much I can do about that. Maybe we can set up MX Tweak to restore some "MX defaults"... D_O what do you think?

Thanks; even details of how a user might reset by altering config files to make things 'as shipped' would be great.

@Adrian we have a reset script. if we can figure what value needs changed then that should be easy enough to add.

I’ll play around with the kde setup and see what I can figure.

Where is the reset button?
