Meta key menu issues

Been trying to enjoy MX21 KDE flavor, however little things keep breaking. I'm running on a Thinkpad T460s 20gb ram. First go LUKS kept throwing errors, I just went ahead and re-installed. Now I'm having issues w/ the Meta/Win key no longer opening the start menu, worked briefly after the clean install. I've tried assigning it under Application Menu/Keyboard shortcuts, but it wants more than just the meta key(i.e. Meta + "L" works just fine). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello. I'm a noob. First post!

I had the same issue while doing some things after an install just recently. I was just messing with kde in different ways.

Anyway, get to app menu settings again, right click, then configure, keyboard shortcuts, then none or whatever it may say, then super/meta/windows key plus spacebar. apply. Reward!

Some searching will also recommend other combinations that will work also. All will allow the use with only the single key being pressed. Spacebar worked for me. I hope it works for you!

Take a look into settings Hardware->Input Devices->Keyboard
I have the Generic 101 key selected, that works fine. Also take a look there in the advanced tab. For me it looks as this is the place where you could disable the menu behavior.

If LUKS throws errors I would check the harddrive (use something like gsmartcontrol)

As for the Meta, usually you just need to reset the control for '"Activate Application Menu Widget", when you set Alt-F1, Meta also works (not sure why but it does, maybe Plasma has an alias somewhere for Alt-F1 = Meta).
