Is there good support for USB 3.0 monitors?

Is there support for portable USB 3.0 monitors with MX 19.3, or other versions? If so is it plug and play or what is involved in setup, am I better off getting one with HDMI input or is it relatively easy? Given the price point for a nice IPS FHD display I may also be more interested/motivated in one that only has a USB interface for the $/performance ratio, though it'd be nice to use it with the Raspberry Pi too.

I'm looking at using a 15/16" USB monitor with a Dell Inspiron 3135, (11", I think 50 wH batt.) and if powered through the notebook I'm wondering how long it can run without being plugged into the AC.
