Hello forums,

Would like some opinions please.

I keep running across articles as this and want to know if this is a good thing to do.

https://sunknudsen.com/privacy-guides/h ... references

I have MX-21 installed OOTB.
Firefox browser.
DuckDuckGo search engine.
DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials.
Ublock Origin.

GUFW enabled.
Firejail enabled default settings.

Would what is in the above link be a good idea or a bad idea or is it unnecessary.
If I was to apply the suggested changes that are given in the article and it did create issues would there be a way to return Firefox to it's original OOTB default state by using the "Refresh" button in the Firefox settings.

Thanks.

Suppose refresh button could do the trick.
Un-install/re-install ?
Or, take note of all those changes and revert manually if things go wry.
DDG is good choice (so are StartPage and many others).

Btw, have enabled DNS over HTTPS (NextDNS) in Network settings.

Depending on which firefox you have (usually the first, the last is Czech):

Code: Select all

apt-get purge firefox
apt-get purge firefox-esr
apt-get purge firefox-l10n-xpi-cs
Purge removes the package and deletes any configuration files.

Agreed on the take notes of settings before hand.

Okay gotcha on the DNS over HTTPS (NextDNS) in the Network settings.

Thanks

I'm curious why NextDNS over Cloudflare which is default.

There are others too.

Forget why i chose this one over the only other one that is presented in Firefox.
It was likely something positive about NextDNS recently that swayed my opinion.
But where?

Glad Michael-IDA posted!

1. You need a better "subject."
2. You can revert your settings by deleting your profiles in ~/.mozilla/firefox -- maybe backup your bookmarks first.

Okay once deleted than recreate new profile.

Is it possible to keep existing profile and create a second profile to give this a try.

Thanks

I understand brand x or brand y which is best.
I've been looking at comparisons between the two.

Thanks

Okay went ahead and applied the settings and everything seems to be working as before.

The only thing I've noticed was when I open the browser window the browser window doesn't fill the screen completely until I maximize it and I can live with that.

I appreciate all of the replies and all of the advice given.

Thanks again.
